30 Days of Prayer and Fating - Suggested Schedule for Week 4
This week, continue to pray how the Lord is leading about your own holiness and walk with God. Also, be in prayer for our church body specifically. We are one body of Christ, and each person in the body can grow spiritually and benefits the whole.
Sunday, May 9 - 1 Peter 1:13-21
Today is Mother’s Day, so as you pray, related to holiness, pray that God will make you a good example to all the children in your life, whether your own family or the children of others. Pray for the mothers and fathers in our church that God would give them wisdom strength, that they would raise their children in the Lord. Read Proverbs 20:7
Monday May 10 - Matthew 5:14-16
Pray for your “oikos” today. Your oikos is the group of people that you interact with on a regular basis, your relational world. Parents, kids, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, etc. Pray that you would be a light to them as this Matthew passage says. Also, pray that together, our church would further prepare people to minister to those God puts in our path.
Tuesday, May 11 - Acts 4:32-37
Pray for the community you live in, and the community our church gathers in, University City. Go for a walk today in your neighborhood. Pray as the Lord leads you for the people who live there and who you may encounter.
Wednesday, May 12 - Psalm 145
Pray for our city, San Diego and the surrounding cities. Pray that as we serve our city in various ways, that we would both demonstrate and announce the Gospel, by loving others and Jesus loved us. Thursday, May 13 - Psalm 121
Prepare your heart today for our church fast tomorrow. Pray through and meditate on Psalm 121 and make your plan for Friday.
Friday, May 14 - Matthew 6:16-18
Today is our all-church fast. Many people will abstain from food today, however, please do as the Lord leads you and participate in some meaningful way. As you fast, each time you desire to eat or do whatever you are refraining from today, stop where you are and pray. Read John 17 today and note particularly how Jesus prayed for you.
Saturday, May 15 - Psalm 66
In your prayers, praise God today for what he is doing! Prepare your heart for Sunday.
